Junior Old Boys’ Association of the Nalanda College, Colombo marks its 40-year anniversary coming January with a series of programmes. The launching ceremony of anniversary celebrations was held at the college premises with the participation of large number of old boys and invited dignitaries recently (Nov 6). The launching ceremony commenced with preaching of Dhamma by Ven Neluwakande Gnananda Thera. Twenty wheel chairs were distributed among needy disabled persons and 50 members of the Sri Lanka Army being treated at the Mihindu Seth Medura, Atthidiya were given clothes and dresses. Among those present on the occasion were Maj Gen Ubhaya Medawela, Principal of the Nalanda College Brevet Col Ranjith Jayasundara, Vice Principal Ariyaratne Bandara and former principals, Col Wajira Kariyawasam and soldiers being treated at the Mihindu Seth Medura, President of the Nalanda Junior OBA Pradeep Subhasinghe, Secretary Sisira Siriwardena, Treasurer Sampath Porage, Chief Organiser Uthpala Amarasekera and other members, staff members and students of the college.
