The Nalanda Junior Old Boys' Association (NJOBA) was formed in 1975, 50 years after the school was established. It was formed with the Objective of harvesting the youthful energy of young Alumni for the development of the school. The first president of the Association was Mr. Susantha Abeysekara and the starting membership consisted of 25 members. Since then the NJOBA has seen the tenures of 22 presidents and a flourishing 39 years in the Service of Nalanda College.

The President for the term of year 2014 is Mr. Pradeep Subasinghe and the General Secretary is Mr. Sisira Siriwardana

The 07th Exco Meeting

The 7th Executive Committee meeting of the Nalanda Junior Old Boy’s Association for the 2014/2015 administrative year was held at the college language center on Friday, February, 27, 2015 with a large gathering of old boys. The highlight of the event was the appointment of a Nominations Board to facilitate the election of office bearers for the next administrative year. Old Nalandian Dolton Wakwella was nominated as the president of the five-member nominations board while the other distinguished members, Sugath Nagahawatte, Ravi Hettiarachihci, Nalin Dharmasinghe and Dasun Kasthuriarachichi were also appointed.

A donation worth Rs.50, 000 was also handed over to the school cadet platoon by the Vice President - Sports Manoj Serasinghe and the money is expected to be utilized for the expenses for the Herman Louse Challenge Trophy.

Members of the 99 Group who have been sponsoring clothes for the participants of Ananda Vs Nalanda Hostel, Teachers and Prefects cricket matches handed over the uniforms for this year.

The 05th Exco Meeting

The 05th Executive Committee meeting for the term 2014/2015 was held on 23rd January 2015 at the Language Center. Old Nalandian Mr. Mangala Yapa graced the occasion as the chief guest and delivered a speech on his life's achievements and how mother Nalanda helped him on his carrier. The videos done on the 40th Anniversary program and Sports day was shown to the audience and NJOBA President thanked all members who supported the events.

Unveiling of past presidents photos

The unveiling of photos of the past presidents.. at the NJOBA office, Mr. Sanjaya Fernando & Dr. Thilak Amarasinghe was taken place on 18th February 2015. Present President Mr. Subasinghe has warmly welcomed the two past presidents and praised the work done by them. Past office bearers of the two presidents as well as the present Office bears have graced the occasion. Mr Poshitha Sisirwimala, Mr. Sri Thissera and Mr. Keerthi Siriwardena has done speeches and iterated that we should promote the brotherhood among old boys and respect each other.

NJOBA continues with the 40th Anniversary Dhamma Pilgrimage..

NJOBA successfully completed another series of events to commemorate 40th Anniversary of the Nalanda Junior Old Boys Association on 3rd and 04th of January 2015. Dhamma Deshana conducted by Buddhangala Ananda Thero followed by all night Pirith chanting and Almsgiving for 41 monks was done at the college language center with the participation of large gathering of old boys.
