The Nalanda Junior Old Boys' Association (NJOBA) was formed in 1975, 50 years after the school was established. It was formed with the Objective of harvesting the youthful energy of young Alumni for the development of the school. The first president of the Association was Mr. Susantha Abeysekara and the starting membership consisted of 25 members. Since then the NJOBA has seen the tenures of 23 presidents and a flourishing 40 years in the Service of Nalanda College.

The President for the term of year 2015 is Mr. Nilanga Gajaba and the General Secretary is Mr. Dharmasiri Mohottige

Shan Halamba, old Nalandian of “RIOCOCO” fame wins Stevie Gold Award as Executive of the Year in the USA.

Susantha Shan Halamba, a young entrepreneur and industrious leader, hailing from Nalanda College, won the Gold Stevie Award for Executive of the Year, Management for outstanding performance by a young entrepreneur for his venture under the brand of “RIOCOCO”. Shan, the CEO of Ceyhinz Link International, Inc., a global operation now spanning over 30 countries won the Stevie Awards” which, is the only international, all-encompassing business awards program.

Nalanda gets Open Gym Equipment for NJOBA 40th Anniversary

Nalanda Junior Old Boys' Association officially handed over the newly installed open gymnasium equipment to Nalanda College on 25th of October 2015 at the college cricket ground. The project was launched as part of the 40th Anniversary celebrations of the Nalanda Junior Old Boys’ Association. Incumbent president of the NJOBA Mr. Pradeep Subasinghe handed over the facility to the principal Mr. Ranjith Jayasundara with office bearers of the association in attendance The project envisioned by the NJOBA provides a number of gym equipment installed on the perimeter of the ground. As many students engage in various sports activities around the ground this facility will benefit all sports men to develop their physique and improve stamina. Another main aim is to provide the opportunity to the student population at large, especially middle school graders to use these equipment to engage in physical exercise and activities in maintaining good physical fitness.

The 38th Annual General Meeting

The 38th Annual General Meeting was held on 20th August 2015 at the College Auditorium. Nilanga Gajaba elected as the President for the next term with Dharmasiri Mohottige as the General Secretary.

Nalanda Guru Upahara

The Nalanda College Junior Old Boys' Association held its Annual  Guru Upahara Day or teachers felicitation at the College premises on Sunday, Oct. 25th, 2015. The prominent activity of the event was a medical camp where Old Nalandian doctors themselves attended to the medical needs of their past teachers. Medical laboratory tests and diagnosis were carried out in clinics set up at the school by qualified medics and nursing staff and drugs were also provided.A lecture was organized on oral hygiene and also teachers were entertained with dramas and music and songs by present and past teachers.
