The Nalanda Junior Old Boys' Association (NJOBA) was formed in 1975, 50 years after the school was established. It was formed with the Objective of harvesting the youthful energy of young Alumni for the development of the school. The first president of the Association was Mr. Susantha Abeysekara and the starting membership consisted of 25 members. Since then the NJOBA has seen the tenures of 23 presidents and a flourishing 40 years in the Service of Nalanda College.

The President for the term of year 2015 is Mr. Nilanga Gajaba and the General Secretary is Mr. Dharmasiri Mohottige

Major General Milinda Peiris is the new Chief of Staff, Sri Lanka Army.

Major General Milinda Peiris who is the senior most officer produced by Nalanda in the Army was appointed the new Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Army on 12th February 2016. Major General Milinda Peiris is the 47th Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Army, which, is the second highest appointment in the organization.

During his school career in Nalanda he excelled as a Senior Cadet and a scout of the college scout troop showing a glimpse of his distinguished military career that would materialize in time. Following his education in Nalanda he joined the Sri Lanka Army as an officer cadet in 1980. Major General Milinda Peiris achieved numerous academic high points during his career and holds a Masters degree in Philosophy (MPhil) awarded by the University of Madras and degrees from the National Defence College, New Delhi, Command and Staff College, Bangladesh and Armour School, Fort Knox, Kentucky, USA among his many academic qualifications. He has also received diverse high-level appointments exemplifying the officers’ capabilities and standing that include the Vice Chancellor ship of the prestigious Kotelawala Defence University.

Workshop to Cricket team

A workshop was done by NJOBA for the Cricket Team before the Bigmatch and this was pioneered by Dr. Asanga Wijeratne which is one from many activities planned for the uplifment of college sports.

The 1st Exco for 2015/16

The first executive committee meeting for year 2015/2016 was held at the Language Center on 08th February. Distinguished old Nalandian Mr. Amitha Gamage participated as the Chief Guest. NJOBA President Nilanga Gajaba explained the objectives for the current term which focus mainly on Education and Sports development of school as well as getting the maximum out the infrastructure already provided by the NJOBA. Also the focus will be on setting up the framework for Nalanda 100 year milestone.
