The Nalanda Junior Old Boys' Association (NJOBA) was formed in 1975, 50 years after the school was established. It was formed with the Objective of harvesting the youthful energy of young Alumni for the development of the school. The first president of the Association was Mr. Susantha Abeysekara and the starting membership consisted of 25 members. Since then the NJOBA has seen the tenures of 22 presidents and a flourishing 39 years in the Service of Nalanda College.

The President for the term of year 2014 is Mr. Pradeep Subasinghe and the General Secretary is Mr. Sisira Siriwardana

Future Minds 2015 Galle

The 10th anniversary exposition of Future Minds, kicked off its Galle edition at the Galle Town Hall on 19th September 2015.  Hon. Cabinet Minister of Home Affairs, Vajira Abeywardena graced the opening ceremony as the Chief Guest while Chandima Weerakkody Cabinet Minister of Petroleum and Petroleum Gas also attended as a Guest of Honour. Addressing the gathering Minister Vajira Abeywardena said that recent experiences showed that the majority of youth entering the job market as well as their parents are clueless about career development. The minister further elaborated that with the trends that are shaping up in the country, lack of proper higher educational qualifications may be an unsurpassable barrier for employment. The minister related of an attempt similar to Future Minds, with his involvement earlier and commended that Future Minds is very good event and it will benefit the students of southern province immensely. Minister Chandima Weerakkody speaking, touched on the unawareness of school leavers on various highly rewarding career paths and stressed that in the impending future that there will be vast opportunities in the field of petroleum. Future Minds, with him at the helm as the first ever Future Minds chairman and expressed his pride and joy on the 10 year long advancement of the premier higher education exhibition.

The exhibition is conducted for the fourth consecutive year at Galle and will be conducted on 19th and 20th Sep. from 9am to 6pm and entrance is free to the public.

Future Minds 2015 Kandy

The city of Kandy welcomed with open arms the 10th anniversary edition of Future Minds at the plush Kandy City Centre today on the 27th of June 2015. This was the 5th instalment of Future Minds to be held in the hill capital which is looked forward to by higher education aspirants coming from Kandy, its surrounding areas and other far regions where the exhibition is much easier to access than the Colombo edition.

The exhibition was declared open by Hon. Surangani Ellawala, Governor, Central Province as the Chief Guest while Mr. Thusitha Wijesena, Chairman Kandy City Centre graced the occasion as a guest of Honour. Delivering an eloquent speech Mrs. Surangani Ellawala showered praise on the service that Future Minds performs for the young ones and offered to help the expo to prop up the younger generation in helping them to succeed in life.

Future Minds Kandy 2015 hosts over 60 institutes offering various higher education and tertiary education programmes for school leavers. The exhibition is oriented to cater for whole family units to enable effective choice making on higher education options and a wide array of opportunities and information is available empowering those who are keen on building a solid academic foundation.

Nalanda Ranaviru Uphara 2015

Nalanda Ranaviru Upahara organized by NJOBA was held on 28th of July with Major General Kenneth Edema as the chief guest for the occasion, and a large number of Ranaviru families, their relatives took part together with the old boys. The event was followed by a lunch sponsored by NJOBA for the cancer hospital patients, toy distribution for the kids in the hospital and a blood donation activity.

Future Minds 2015

The 10th anniversary edition of the premier higher educational and career exhibition Future Minds, got underway today on the 19th of June 2015. The expo was declared open at the prestigious BMICH in Colombo by Chief Guest Minister of Higher Education and Research Hon. Dr. Sarath Amunugama. Deputy Minister of Skills Development and Vocational Training and old Nalandian, Hon. Thilanga Sumathipala also graced the opening ceremony. The exhibition organized by the Nalanda Junior Old Boys' Association was launched in 2006 and has seen tremendous growth throughout a decade of dedicated service to the Sri Lankan student community. The Colombo edition of the expo will be conducted on the three days 19th, 20th and 21st hosting over 100 educational institutes and close to 150 stalls. Coinciding with the 10th anniversary edition a special programme of Career Guidance Seminars will also be conducted on the 20th and 21st.
