The Nalanda Junior Old Boys' Association (NJOBA) was formed in 1975, 50 years after the school was established. It was formed with the Objective of harvesting the youthful energy of young Alumni for the development of the school. The first president of the Association was Mr. Susantha Abeysekara and the starting membership consisted of 25 members. Since then the NJOBA has seen the tenures of 22 presidents and a flourishing 39 years in the Service of Nalanda College.

The President for the term of year 2014 is Mr. Pradeep Subasinghe and the General Secretary is Mr. Sisira Siriwardana

Nalanda gets Open Gym Equipment for NJOBA 40th Anniversary

Nalanda Junior Old Boys' Association officially handed over the newly installed open gymnasium equipment to Nalanda College on 25th of October 2015 at the college cricket ground. The project was launched as part of the 40th Anniversary celebrations of the Nalanda Junior Old Boys’ Association. Incumbent president of the NJOBA Mr. Pradeep Subasinghe handed over the facility to the principal Mr. Ranjith Jayasundara with office bearers of the association in attendance The project envisioned by the NJOBA provides a number of gym equipment installed on the perimeter of the ground. As many students engage in various sports activities around the ground this facility will benefit all sports men to develop their physique and improve stamina. Another main aim is to provide the opportunity to the student population at large, especially middle school graders to use these equipment to engage in physical exercise and activities in maintaining good physical fitness.

Future Minds 2015 Galle

The 10th anniversary exposition of Future Minds, kicked off its Galle edition at the Galle Town Hall on 19th September 2015.  Hon. Cabinet Minister of Home Affairs, Vajira Abeywardena graced the opening ceremony as the Chief Guest while Chandima Weerakkody Cabinet Minister of Petroleum and Petroleum Gas also attended as a Guest of Honour. Addressing the gathering Minister Vajira Abeywardena said that recent experiences showed that the majority of youth entering the job market as well as their parents are clueless about career development. The minister further elaborated that with the trends that are shaping up in the country, lack of proper higher educational qualifications may be an unsurpassable barrier for employment. The minister related of an attempt similar to Future Minds, with his involvement earlier and commended that Future Minds is very good event and it will benefit the students of southern province immensely. Minister Chandima Weerakkody speaking, touched on the unawareness of school leavers on various highly rewarding career paths and stressed that in the impending future that there will be vast opportunities in the field of petroleum. Minister Weerakkody also reminisced the times of launching

Future Minds, with him at the helm as the first ever Future Minds chairman and expressed his pride and joy on the 10 year long advancement of the premier higher education exhibition.

The exhibition is conducted for the fourth consecutive year at Galle and will be conducted on 19th and 20th Sep. from 9am to 6pm and entrance is free to the public.

Nalanda Guru Upahara

The Nalanda College Junior Old Boys' Association held its Annual  Guru Upahara Day or teachers felicitation at the College premises on Sunday, Oct. 25th, 2015. The prominent activity of the event was a medical camp where Old Nalandian doctors themselves attended to the medical needs of their past teachers. Medical laboratory tests and diagnosis were carried out in clinics set up at the school by qualified medics and nursing staff and drugs were also provided.A lecture was organized on oral hygiene and also teachers were entertained with dramas and music and songs by present and past teachers.

Nalanda Ranaviru Uphara 2015

Nalanda Ranaviru Upahara organized by NJOBA was held on 28th of July with Major General Kenneth Edema as the chief guest for the occasion, and a large number of Ranaviru families, their relatives took part together with the old boys. The event was followed by a lunch sponsored by NJOBA for the cancer hospital patients, toy distribution for the kids in the hospital and a blood donation activity.
